Produce Like a Freggin’ Boss!

Aug 19, 2020

Kris Bradley is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Nashville, TN. After spending years in Los Angeles, fronting bands, as well as pursuing her own artist career, Kris realized that she needed to learn the production side of music as well.

After investing in a laptop and Logic, then spending countless hours learning how to produce her own demos, she has become an in-demand producer. Along with working with other artists, she's also focused heavily on Sync Licensing with her production company Boomfox Productions, having produced music for Sony, Miramax, Fox, Warner Chappell PM, and many others.

Even more exciting, she's the CEO of Produce Like A Boss, where she's been helping hundreds of musicians and songwriters take control over their careers by teaching them how to fully produce their own music. Her program From Voice Memo to Demo has hundreds of students who have quickly been able to create new revenue streams for themselves by applying the recording strategies that Kris teaches.

Here's a sneak peek inside this episode:

  • [9:00] After moving to Nashville and facing a lot of rejection, she built her production business. Those individuals who initially rejected her, have now become partners & clients.
  • [9:46] The importance of becoming self-sufficient and learning how to produce your own music.
  • [12:14] How what some may call 'failure,' is really just an opportunity to reposition and pivot.
  • [25:14] The second that she realized that nobody in this industry owes you anything, that's when her career quickly started moving forward.  Stop expecting things from others.  Just start showing up and asking, 'how can I serve you?'
  • [26:28] The more confident you are in the value you can provide others, the less fear you will have.  How she's learned that when she was feeling really nervous and unworthy of the opportunity, it's usually because she was.  She was knocking on a door that I should not have been knocking on... yet.
  • [31:23] If you choose to go to the label route until you have that team of a manager, a booking agent, and somebody doing your marketing and social media. But as an independent artist, you are all those things.  So, how do you really take these responsibilities into your own hands?
  • [51:08] Why you've got to allow yourself to be imperfect.
  • [57:31] What life was like when she decided to go full time with her music.  The truth in the phrase "when you're ready, the books will start falling off the shelves & the teacher will appear."
