Multi-platinum songwriter Andrea Stolpe has been a staff writer for EMI and Universal Music.  Her songs have been recorded by artists including Faith Hill, Julianne Hough, Daniel Lee Martin, Jimmy Wayne, and others.

Her book Popular Lyric Writing: 10 Steps to Effective Storytelling, is a staple text for the songwriting programs at Berklee College of Music, Belmont University, and USC's Thornton School of Music.

In this episode, Andrea shares strategies and advice on how every songwriter can  grow their network of established co-writers.

Here's a sneak peek inside this episode:

  • [11:16] Network of relationships is the most important part. Putting a time and willingness to listen to a mentor plus having a talent will give you a good chance to succeed.
  • [12:51] Being proactive and thinking what you can bring to the table will bring value to other people's career.
  • [15:31] The whole idea of being with other people has been a big game changer in ensuring that a career is more sustainable.
  • [17:53] Lighten up! Do not take your self seriously. Just ride and get it done and move to the next thing. Having a good mentality which links in allowing people to contribute on what you're doing rather than doing it by yourself.
  • [18:23] Building relationship with other's first. Thinking more about who do you want to have a relationship with and pursuing music with those people.
